About

Jesse (Jesus) Ayala is a visual and immersive storyteller at Fovrth Studios a media house specializing in non-fiction and impactful content. His work has premiered and screened at film festivals around the world including the American Film Institute Docs, Cannes Film Festival NEXT, Tribeca Film Festival, SXSW Film Festival, Sheffield DocFest, and SCAD Future Fest and more. 

Jesse is a 2018 Oculus Launch Pad fellow, a 2017 Facebook/Oculus Creators Lab Filmmaker, and a 2016 Future of Storytelling (FoST) for Good creative fellow. He is a current member at NEW INC, the first museum-led incubator. Jesse's 2018 award winning virtual reality series “Authentically Us: Stories from the Transgender Community” is the first documentary series from Oculus and the first to place transgender people at the center of the experience. Jesse’s 2017 series #ImmigrantVoices launched the Global Citizen summer festival in Central Park, New York.

Jesse’s faith in the power of storytelling to stir empathy and action stems from his fieldwork positions for the Clinton Global Initiative with HIV/AIDS interventions, the United Nations in crisis zones in Gaza and Lebanon, Al Jazeera as an independent photojournalist during the Arab Spring, and Teach for America as educator in urban-low income New Orleans. In 2012 Jesse founded Modavanti a social impact and sustainable lifestyle company. Jesse has earned honors from NBC News, Microsoft, InStyle, and The Huffington Post for his work in sustainable fashion.

Originally from Madison Wisconsin, Jesse is a first-generation college-graduate and Chancellor’s Scholar of the University of Wisconsin (B.A. 2010) and also studied at the American University in Cairo (2009). 

Jesse identifies as Latinx and is an active member of the LGBTQ+ community. Jesse is a OutInTech Digital Corps member- providing web services to LGBTQ activists globally. In 2017 Jesse was married at the United States Supreme Court on the second anniversary of the landmark decision on marriage equality. Jesse lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts and New York City with his husband I. Glenn Cohen.
